The Power of Using Video

Video is an extremelly powerful tool to get your message out to your customers.

The largest video site, YouTube boasts millions of views every day.

While many of the vidoes are full of fluff, some are very business oriented.
You will be able to create interest in your business
and get your potential customers to take action.

Here are some of the benefits:

  • You can brand yourself and your business
  • You can target a wide variety of potential customers
  • You can tap into a global marketplace
  • Your give your customers an inside view of your business
  • You can brand your business as being THE place to visit.
I use videos for all of my Internet Marketing. As a matter of fact, one of my videoes
has gotten over a quarter of a million views.
You can see it here:

And yes it surprised me. Shocked me, acutally.

It’s a simple video of me making pizza dough. And it really is a simple homemade video.

Siimple.

The results have been thousands of visitors to my pizza website.
It has gone viral and other websites have put my video on their website.

Google even contacted me about allowing them to put their ads on my video.
Here is a picture

Here is the link to see it:

Think about your own video. What would it mean to your business if you got
hundreds or even thousands of views.

Think of your video as a little sales machine and customer lead generator, working for you 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Non-stop. Never taking a break.

And once it’s up on the Internet: it’s there.

If you want a little sales machine working for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, just contact me.

You can get additional videos, at a very resoanable, one-time cost.

How to Overcome the Mental Doubts

One of my favorite old time marketers is Marlon Sanders.

Without a doubt, Marlon understands marketing in lots of different niches. To get started you need to have the correct mindset.  That really is the first step. I wanted to share the following article from Marlon about how you can overcome the one obvious thing that is holding you back…you.

How to Overcome the Mental Doubts
That Hold You Back From Success

Subtitle:  Is a Thief Inside Your Head Stealing
Your Money?
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I have another niche market I participate in and hope to sell
products in.

This niche market involves a sizable learning curve.  I see people
come and go in it all the time.

And from my own experiences and those I observe, there is ONE
THING that  keeps people from making progress.  And that thing is
self doubt.

1.  You may doubt you have the ability to succeed in this business

You know, we all have self doubts.  In learning the new skills I’m
tell you about, I know I personally have had self doubt.  “Is this
something I can do?  Is this a  skill I can master?  Am I TOO
OLD?”

Yet, the conclusion I come back to over and over is that success
in ANY endeavor is the result of behaviors. Change the behaviors
and get the result.

Wherever you are, I’ve been there.  I know what it is to doubt
yourself or your ability. To not be sure if you have what it
takes.  To try and have your successes far outweighed by things
that didn’t work.

It’s easy to get discouraged.  To stop.  To quit. To think that
this is the end of the road for you.  In this new arena and skill
set area I’m working in, I’ve experienced all those feelings and
emotions and more.

2.  You may doubt your progress

It’s so easy to look at a few successes against more failures and
think, “I’m not making progress.”

I think this is the hardest thing.  You have to tie a knot on your
mental rope and  hang on.  Because the truth is, things almost
always don’t work before they DO work.

You have to really tune up your focus on any successes you DO
have.  And notice the small successes.  So maybe you don’t have a
ton of sales yet. But you DO have people subscribing.  Or you DO
have some sales coming in regularly.

Or you DO have your blog up and you ARE getting visitors now from
Google.

You have to exaggerate mentally the successes you DO have because
those are what show you that you ARE making progress and ARE on
the right track.

3.  Others will rain on your parade

So you finally get to the point where things ARE starting to work.
All of a sudden in a forum or someplace, someone RAINS on your
parade. They criticize your model, your idea or your efforts.

Maybe they tell you you are pipe dreaming.  Or chasing rainbows.

And you let it get to you mentally, spiritually or psychically.

I don’t know why this happens.  Some people just aren’t very tuned
in.  You have to believe in yourself and what you’re doing more
than anyone else.  I don’t know why it’s that way. But it is.

4.  You may have a set back

Man, this one is a challenge.  You’re going along.  You’re making
progress. You’ve got some traffic. You’re getting subscribers.
Sales are coming in.

Then you have a set back.

Something happens in your life, your family, or some area that
holds you back or slows you down.

For me last year it was a quadruple hernia. Not exactly what I had
in mind for my year.

But you move forward. That’s all you can do.

5.  You may think or feel that finally you’ve reached a point
where “it isn’t working.”

Anytime you’re acquiring a complex set of skills, that can happen.
It’s a signal to  do some things different. To up your Game.  To
tweak what you’re doing and how.

==============
Solutions for You
==============

Alright, let’s talk about solutions:

1.  Operate from a basic checklist

Do you have your autoresponders set up?  Do new customers go onto
your email list? Are you sending out emails?  Do you have a plan
or system for getting traffic that has a  realistic chance of
working?  Are you creating and promoting new products?  Do you
know HOW to do screen capture video and post it?  Do you have a
blog that looks good?

These are all basics. I’m covering most of them in the
Quick Start call and PDF I’m doing for my Writer’s Secret
folks.

But you don’t have to buy from me to do these things. I
make things easier so you have to figure less out. But the
important thing is you have a basic checklist.

2. Give yourself credit for SMALL improvements

Rome wasn’t built overnight. At first, your victories will
be much smaller than your defeats. That’s how it is in a
learning curve.

3. Tweak but don’t junk

Tweak your game plan but don’t throw the baby out with the
bath water. You’ve got to believe in your basic game plan.

4. Know who to IGNORE

Just because someone sounds like they know what they’re
talking about and they criticize you does NOT mean you
should listen to them.

Everyone has a point of view and belief system. Maybe
THEIRS is the one jacked up. Not everyone wants to build
the same type of business or has the same vision.

5. Do the fundamentals first

If you can’t write a headline, can’t put up a squeeze
page, can’t write a guarantee, can’t write and send an
email, can’t set up an affiliate program, can’t compile a
PDF, can’t make a Camtasia video that’s decent — if you
can’t do those things, go back to the fundamentals.

It’s so easy to get distracted by bright and shiny
objects.

But what I’ve found is that success is the cumulative
result of layering basic upon basic and skill upon skill.

You know, it’s a cumulative result. That does NOT mean it
has to take forever or a long time.

My great pal, friend and inspiration, Jason Fladlien,
mastered huge chunks of this business very quickly. It CAN
be done. Still, he started with the fundamentals like
copywriting and mastered the basics.

You gotta be able to write headlines, bullet points,
offers and guarantees.

You gotta have your affiliate program. And so forth.

6. Realize that EVERYONE has self doubt

I think one of the biggest obstacles to succeeding is
doubting your smart enough, good enough and so forth.

At the same time, smart or good alone doesn’t do it. You
have to put into effect the right chunks of the business.
You gotta get the pieces in place. The foundations.

7. Value doing things

The single most important thing you can DO is something.
Just DO things and watch the results. Then tweak and try
again.

You’ll never succeed without DOING.

So get curious what would happen if you DO this? Or DO
that?

Find some way, some how that you can enjoy the DOING. The
BEST way I know of to do that is to get curious. And think
about it….if you found yourself getting really curious
about the results of DOING things, how would that change
the quality and quantity of activity you take now and in
the future?

And if you found yourself getting really curious about
THAT, what might that look like? How would things change?

Enjoy the process.

Fear of making mistakes holds people back. Curiosity about
what would happen if you take action makes things happen.

It’s easier to tweak a process in motion than it is to get
in motion.

Get in motion.

It’s half of success. Just getting in motion.

1. You gotta see opportunity

Where are your underserved people or topics?

2. You gotta get in motion

Take some action to exploit the opportunity

3. You gotta produce and promote

It may not be pretty at first. It may not make a fortune.
But if you find yourself getting really curious about what
would happen once you became a producer and a promoter,
then you’re almost there.

A week or two ago I showed you a new blog I put up. I’m
still working on getting my ducks in a row. But it has
ALREADY opened doors and I’ve met people who can help
parts of it happen.

And all I did was put up a blog. There isn’t even a video
on it. There’s just a basic graphic and a blog template.

Success favors those who take action and do things just
out of the curiosity to know what MIGHT or COULD happen.

How SEO Can Help Your Business Greatly

The term SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is one that is used much more commonly these days than ever before. This is mostly due to the fact that now the majority of the market will search the internet (Google, Yahoo, MSN) before anywhere else, when looking to purchase a product or service either locally or internationally.

This has caused business owners to frantically look for someone who can perform these SEO services for them, by optimizing their websites for the search engines.

When someone searches for a keyword phrase that’s related to your business, for example “auto mechanics in New York” the first page of results on Google shows only 10 results. There are usually hundreds or even thousands of pages of results for any given keyword.

Anyone can show up on the top page of Google, by paying a hefty fee PER click to be there. This can cost a fortune and cause a lot of headaches if you don’t know what you’re doing. SEO on the other hand is usually referred to as “Organic SEO” or “Organic Search Engine Optimization.” This means that you are making it so that your website shows up in the natural search results that are on the left side of the page when you do a Google search (the paid ads show up on the right side).

By landing your website a few organic search engine listings (on the first page or not), you are doing your business a GREAT service. This is perhaps one of the most valuable long term assets your business can have, because you will have a flow of traffic to your website, of people that are actually searching for what it is that you offer. And that is precisely why companies are paying thousands of dollars a month to search engine optimization specialists.

On the local level however, SEO services tend to be much cheaper than at the international corporate level, so they are affordable.

By having that organic listing, you will have “targeted” traffic coming to your site (people who are searching for your specific niche) and you will NOT be paying for every time someone clicks on your search engine listing! Your business will have more exposure on the internet, have a chance of competing with the rest and will survive well into the future… With your rankings going up every year hopefully!

The REAL Secret to Building A High-Profit Internet Business

The best way to succeed is to surround yourself with people who are successful. One of my greatest mentors has been Jimmy D. Brown. Jimmy is one of the most influential Internet Marketers in the business.

His knowledge is based on real life testing and tracking. His resources are valuable for anyone who does business on the Internet.

This is one of Jimmy’s best secrets.

The REAL Secret to Building A High-Profit Internet Business

By Jimmy D. Brown

My wife laughs every time she sees me doing it.

At least once or twice every week, I’ll be at my desk (or
at the dining room table) with my Franklin Covey planner
open and a stack of laminated checklists in hand.

“What are you doing, honey?” she calls, already knowing
the answer.

“I’m planning”, I reply with a smile.

She laughs and I get back to work.

She laughs because she swears I spend half of my time
“planning”. But, if you ask me how I’m able to get as
much work done as I do in only 3 hours a day, I’ll point
to a black Franklin Covey planner with about a dozen
laminated checklists inside.

Building an Internet business is easy. Seriously. I’m
not saying that it’s not complicated, because it is. I’m
just saying that it’s easy to accomplish if you just have
a system in place.

There’s very little in this world that can’t be
accomplished with the right set of action steps in front
of you.

Today, I’m going to give you such a system for building
your Internet business. There are only 4 steps…

1. Decide What You Want To Do. Do you want to run an
eBay(R) business? Be an affiliate marketer? Buy and sell
reprint rights? Get involved in niche marketing? While
all of those things will likely find their way into your
plan in time, you gotta begin with one thing at a time.

My recommendation: Choose a “broad” topic you are
interested in and begin building a list of folks interested
in that topic.

2. Determine A Weekly Action Plan. After you decide what
you want to do, it’s time to determine how to get it done.
What I do is this: I create a weekly set of action steps.
That is,I have a set of things I do on Monday, on Tuesday
and so forth. Decide how many hours (as little as ONE) you
want to work each day and schedule yourself a reasonable
amount of things to get done in that time frame. Repeat
this process week after week.

My recommendation: Begin writing ezine articles to
promote your list … and affiliate programs. It’s the
easiest way to get free traffic and build your list at the
same time.

3. Devote Yourself To Staying On Schedule. The important
thing here is to stick to it. The easiest way that I know
of to make certain you develop discipline in your schedule
is to NOT set unrealistic expectations. Give yourself ample
time to do each day’s action step – don’t overschedule.
Look for progress along the way to celebrate. Reward
yourself when you’ve reached a milestone. And, remember,
you’re GROWING a business. Just like physical growth, it
takes time … it WILL happen if you remain committed.

My recommendation: Weave in simple activities related to
the following categories – List building (ezine articles),
product creation(conduct interviews or hire ghostwriters),
site development (making your site convert more visitors into
buyers)and education (continuing to learn new ways to grow
your business)

4. Develop Additional Shortcuts. As you get better and
better at working with your lists, creating products and
tweaking your site, you’ll want to continue to improve your
business with new ideas, strategies, tools and resources.
The key is simple: never stop learning!

Visit forums. Read articles. Download reports. Identify
sites and resources that CONTRIBUTE to your success in
educating you. You want faster results, bigger increases,
automated processes, and other ways to get more accomplished
and more profit, with less work involved.

Everything depends on your developing a plan and sticking to
it.

And that is the REAL secret to building a high-profit
Internet business!

Marlon Sanders On Old School Internet Marketing

I wanted to share this email I just recieved from Marlon Sanders.
Here is the link to his blog:
Marlon’s Blog

“Going Back To Square Freaking One”

Subtitle: What It Means To Be Old School

If you’re new to my list, my name is Marlon Sanders.

I AM what you call an old school marketer. Not old….
old school. I got started in this business back in 1978
when I read Ben Suarez book “SuperBiz ™in 1978 and also H.K.
Simon’s “Out of the Rat Race and into the chips.”

A lot of folks today don’t know about old school marketing
nor what it stands for. George Haylings made bank the old
school way back in the days of the great depression.

If it worked back then, it’ll sure work in today’s less chaotic
times.

I’m writing this because a lot of foks have gotten lost somewhere
along the way. They got distracted by bright and shiny objects
and forget the simplicity of this business….

…..maybe you’re one of ’em.

If you’ve been in this business longer than 6 months and have
been buying courses and training and you haven’t made your
first $100 in sales, you may have lost your way.

If you’ve been in this business longer than a year and haven’t
sold at least $5,000 or $10,000, then you might have forgotten
what it means to be old school.

If you’re an old pro or veteran but somehow have lost your way,
you might have gotten sidetracked and forgotten the bare
simplicity of this business.

I want to talk about what it means to be “old school.”

1. Old school means you produce products.

Now, there’s nothing wrong with promoting affiliate products.
It’s true a lot of newbies get started that way. You can build
a list and start sending out emails selling affiliate products.

But the best way to build your list is with your own product.
And you can have one of those in 3 hours if you know what
you’re doing.

2. Old school means you promote what you produce.

Think of it like breathing.

You do it every day. It’s your essence.

You breathe in…that’s creating new life with the oxygen
that hits your blood stream.

That’s creating new products.

It’s your lifestream.

You breathe out.

That’s promoting…it’s an outward energy.

You go inside to produce…that’s breathing in. You go
outside to promote. That’s breathing out.

If you’re listening to someone telling you to do things
other than breathe in and out, that’s fine. But if it’s not
working for you, you might rethink what you’re doing.

3. Old school means you roll your own

There’s something to be said for hand made.

You can outsource lots of things. You can mechanize
lots of things. And you should.

But no one can replace the human spirit and soul.

And plr and automated this and that are great. I’ve
automated much of my business. But do you have
a SOUL?

Seriously.

I’m a human being, not a machine. I’m here. I have
emotions. I have ups and downs like anyone else.

Like late last year when I was TRYING to be the only guy
in my city at age 51 to have a 6-pack (you know, lean
stomach area), and I ripped some muscles working out and
had to have surgery, that was a tough time for me.

I know some people read a few of my emails and wondered.

It was a very emotionally challenging time.

But that’s life. I don’t try to be something I’m not…at least
not on my good days when I’m my highest and best self.
And I recommend you do the same.

I don’t pretend to live in a million dollar house with a 1/4 million
car and Rolex watch.

I don’t need the watch, I got plenty of house and my car is
a warrior.

But one thing you can say about me is since day one in this
business I’ve been REAL and called it the way I saw it, even
if it meant going counter to the opinions of some of my
closest and best friends.

So I think old school is about being real. The day you
replace you in your business is the day the U is removed
from the word UNIQUE and the day the U is tripped out
of the term USP (unique selling proposition).

Marketers are a funny bunch.

The first thing they do on Twitter is load up a thousand
quotes that someone else wrote.

That’s not old school.

I don’t want to read a bunch of quotes you downloaded. I
want to know who YOU are what YOU think, even if
I disagree at times.

Even if you aren’t the biggest Mac Daddy of ’em all.

At least you’re real. And maybe I’m interested in what you
have to say.

4. Old school means getting things done

I love to talk on the phone.

My dogs (close friends) Jonathan Mizel, Declan Dunn,
Jason Fladlien, Kirt Christensen, Daegan Smith,
Ray Edwards, Paul Myers and others have probably lost
more than a day of production chatting on the phone.

But we share. And it means something to me.

One day I won’t be here to write this ezine. All the products
I got to create will be gone. All the sales letters will be
written. All the insights will be given. All the words will
be said.

I hope that at that time, people will look back and say,
“Marlon Sanders was real. He told the truth. He made me
a better marketer and a better person.”

That means you can’t just talk. You have to create. You
have to walk the walk and not just talk the talk.

All that means is your breath, your life, is creating and
selling and marketing and promoting.

That’s who I am.

That’s what I do.

And if you’re reading this ezine, then I suspect that’s who
you are or want to be.

It’s NOT the only way to run an Internet business.

Like I say, I’m Old School. I believe in stacking a few bills
in my bank account by creating a valuable product and promoting
it to others who can honestly benefit by it.

It’s a noble way to make a living.

A lot of people don’t get that. Selling is spiritual. You’re taking
a person with hopes and dreams of a better life and you’re lending
a helping hand.

You’re taking a person with problems and frustration and helping remove
them.

You’re making the world a little better, more relaxed, more convenient,
more enjoyable and less problem laced place to be.

And that is a great, awesome thing.

The first thing some marketers want to do is remove the human spirit
and element.

And I guess some businesses operate that way.

I’m an Old School dog and I’ve been around the block. I’ve seen people
go to jail, even gurus. I’ve seen them make comebacks by turning over
a new leaf.

I’ve seen more gurus come and go than you can shake a stick at.

I’ve made more products than I can remember and sold most of ’em
pretty well.

How about you?

Have you lost your way?

Have you strayed from the way of the Old School?

If you have, then maybe it’s time you get back to breathing.

You find wants and needs, hopes and dreams, desires and
passions.

You create products.

You promote products.

This may sound like a daunting task if you’re new to this Game.

But over and over and over, people who take action prove you CAN produce
products with value in less time than you think. I’m NOT saying you need
to be perfect or produce the world’s greatest products.

I’m saying to put some of YOU into your products. Put some heart in
there. Put some soul in there.

Get out stuff that helps people. But get out a lot of it. You really do need
to be a Prolific Product Creator.

Old School means you get produts out and you sell ’em. And on the one
hand you don’t succumb to the need to be perfect.

That’s a trap.

On the other hand, you make sure you got a baker’s dozen in there.

It’s time.

It’s time, you and I and everyone else in this Game get back to a few simple
VALUES.

Finding out what people want. Creating lots of products and selling ’em good.
Breathing as a way of life.

Production and promotion.

Good gosh that’s simple.

How did we ever lose our way?

Maybe it’s time a little Old School finds its way back in your life.

If you aren’t working TODAY, this week on creating a new product or promoting
the one you got, then what are you freaking thinking?

Honestly.

What are you doing? Researching more and more and more until you’re certain?

Can you guarantee me you’ll wake up tomorrow?

If you can’t find certainty about that, how do you think you’ll find certainty about
whatever it is you’re trying to feel certain about?

Find your way back home.

Now. Today. It’s never too late.

This moment is all there is.

Embrace the Old School.

Produce.

Create.

Promote.

Sell.

This is the straight and narrow path.

Welcome home.

My name is Marlon Sanders. I’ve been in this Game long as I can remember.
I am the King of Step-By-Step Internet marketing. And I cherish and relish
every moment life has given me to be in this Game.

Every day I wake up, suck down some coffee, and feel thankful for another
day to play the Game.

Old School Lives.

Play on.

Back With Amazon, Again…

On July 1, my 10 year relationship with Amazon ended. I had been a successful affiliate for Amazon. I sold a lot of books, DVD, ccoking supplies and other items in the Amazon cataloge. I got a check every month form them.

There was nothing I had done to violate their Terms of Service (TOS).

The reason is that I live in Hawaii… I understand several other affiliate members living in other states (ie North Carolina) had also been terminated.

The Hawaii State Legistlators had passed a law taxing Amazon and other Internet businesses.

Fortunately, the bill was vetoed. Here’s what amzon said:

“Earlier this month, Governor Linda Lingle vetoed the unconstitutional tax collection scheme passed by the Hawaii legislature in HB 1405.

Because the effective date of that bill preceded both her veto and the legislature’s veto override session, we had little choice but to end our advertising relationships with all Hawaii-based participants in the Amazon Associates Program.

Now that the override session is over, and the legislature did not override Governor Lingle’s veto of HB 1405, we would like to invite all Hawaii Associates whose accounts were closed due to the pending legislation to re-enroll in the Associates Program.”

So for now, I’m back in the saddle with Amazon…

OK here are some fresh amazon links:

Thanks, amazon.
