How to Get Into the Pizza Business

Over the years, I have gotten hundreds of emails from people,
wanting information about getting into the pizza business. Here is my best advice. I answered each email with the following:

"If you really want to learn the pizza business, you need to work at a pizza operation and get to know the business inside and out.  Get a job at  a pizzeria. Find a pizza place that makes great pizza and start working there!  You want to learn to make fantastic pizza! I would think that in about 6 months you would know the operation.

You also will know if making pizza for a living is what you really want to do. Making pizza is difficult, if you are turning out 100-200 pizzas a day. You will work long hours without much rest! You will make a few mistakes, but you will learn from each one!

You need to go to "pizza school" and learn all that you can about making pizza. Talk to successful pizzeria owners. Learn all you can about the restaurant business. Research, study and ask questions! I cannot emphasize this point enough! It does seem very romantic to make pizza for people, but understand, it is challenging. The pizza business can be very lucrative but you do have to work, to make it a success!

I have spoken ith dozens of pizzeria owners including Gary Bimonte, (co-owner of Pepe’s), about the pizza business. Gary grew up making pizza. He learned the business from his grandfather, Frank Pepe. Gary has stated to me how difficult the business can be. It is a life time commitment! Of course it is rewarding, but you will work long hours to be a success! Hang in there!"

People always wrote back. They were pleased with my response but had very specific questions about how to start a pizza business…

"What do you want to know about the pizza business?", I asked

The requests came pouring in. There were some people who wanted more inside information about where to find a pizza business. Some peole wanted to know where to find a commercial pizza recipe. They wanted the shortcuts, the secrets, the real inside scoop. I continued to find answers.

I spent hours and hours researching their questions and answered all of them.  I spent a lot of time learning about how to start a pizza business…
After hundreds of hours of research, I noticed that I had collected a vast amount of information.  These inside secrets were invaluable for anyone who wanted to know about the pizza business.

Here’s where you can find all of the secrets and all of the inside information, I have discovered about the pizza business…

Russian Omelette: A Most Dangerous Game

True story:

My friend Bob was an amazing character, musician, shaman, mentor, teacher, psychologist and a close friend. He was always trying to outdo himself.

One Christmas he stood outside of our house with his trumpet, unannounced. We could hear him playing Christmas carols. We opened the door and he marched in improvising jazz riffs based on traditional Christmas music. He marched up the stairs without saying a word and kept playing. He stayed for a few minutes trumpet to his lips, making sweet sounds.

He then marched down the back stairs, still playing, and left. We could hear the sounds of the trumpet in the distance as he walked home through the woods. That was Bob.  Always making simple events, incredible. You get the picture.

One Easter Morning, he hopped in my room, wearing a bunny suit. He threw a party invitation on my bed, and hopped away.

The invitation stated, we were invited to his house, for an Easter Brunch. After breakfast we were going to play Russian Omelette.

Russian Omelette,” I thought, “what’s that?”

After an incredible gourmet brunch, Bob explained it was time to play the game.

He produced a carton of eggs and opened it as he explained: “Russian Omelette is very similar to Russian Roulette. Instead of using a gun, we are going to use eggs.”

Everyone around the table was speechless.

“All of the eggs in this carton are hard boiled, except one. One of the eggs is raw.  We will pass this carton around the table. When the carton is in front of you, you will place an egg on top of your head and then smash it down with your hand. ”

The carton of eggs was passed around. There was tension and dread as each person in turn took an egg and smashed it down on their head.

Hard boiled egg after hard boiled egg was smashed on each head.

Fiinally, there was one egg left and the egg carton was placed in front of one person: me.

I hesitantly placed the egg on top of my head. I was sweating. I was nervous. I didn’t want to get egg all over my face.

Before I could react, someone hit my hand pressing the egg with great force, then…

nothing happened.

All the eggs were hardboiled. Bob had scammed us.

I learned an important lesson in life that day. Sometimes the anticiaption of dread can be worse than the actual event you are dreading. And sometimes, the anticipation of something great can be better than actually getting it. How true.

Now every Easter, I reflect on on Bob and our memorable game of Russian Omelette. And I remember the lesson I learned.

Thanks Bob. Thanks for a wonderful lesson in life. I miss you.

Do You Really Know Where You Are Going?

My mom sent the following to me. I wish I could take credit for it, but I can’t. It is a great story. Read on:

In January 2000, leaders in Charlotte, North Carolina,
invited their favorite son, Billy Graham, to a luncheon in
his honor.

Billy initially hesitated to accept the invitation because he
struggles with Parkinson’s disease.  But the Charlotte
leaders said, “We don’t  expect a major address. Just
come and let us honor you.”
So he agreed.

After wonderful things were said about him, Dr.  Graham
stepped to the rostrum, looked at the crowd, and said, “I’m reminded today of Albert Einstein, the great physicist who this month has been honored by Time magazine as the
Man of the Century.

Einstein was once traveling from Princeton on a train when the conductor came down the aisle, punching the tickets of every passenger.   When he came to Einstein, Einstein reached in his vest pocket.  He couldn’t find his ticket, so he reached in his trouser
pockets.  It wasn’t there, so he looked in his briefcase but couldn’t find it.  Then he looked in the seat beside him.
He still couldn’t find it.

The conductor said, “Dr.  Einstein, I know who you are.  We all know who you are.  I’m sure you bought a ticket.  Don’t worry about it.” Einstein nodded appreciatively.  The conductor continued down the aisle punching tickets.  As he was ready to
move to the next car, he turned around and saw the great physicist down on his hands and knees looking under his
seat for his ticket.

The conductor rushed back and said, “Dr. Einstein, Dr. Einstein, don’t worry, I know who you are.  No problem.  You don’t need a ticket. I’m sure you bought one.”

Einstein looked at him and said, “Young man, I too, know who I am.  What I don’t know is where I’m going.'”

Having said that Billy Graham continued, “See the suit I’m wearing?
It’s a brand new suit.  My wife, my children, and my grandchildren are telling me I’ve gotten a little slovenly in my old age.  I used to be a bit more fastidious.  So I went
out and bought a new suit for this luncheon and one more occasion.

You know what that occasion is?  This is the suit in which I’ll be buried.  But when you hear I’m dead, I don’t want you to immediately remember the suit I’m wearing.  I want
you to remember this:

I not only know who I am .. I also know where I’m going.”

May your troubles be less, your blessings more,
and may nothing but happiness, come through your door.

Be well, stay well. Know where you are going.

Sincerely,

Albert Grande

One Secret to Personal Power: A Free Guide

To succeed at anything in life you must be in touch with yourself. If you discover who you are and where you are going, you will be totally unstoppable. With self knowledge, you can gain insights and harness your own personal power.

Being uptight, nervous, and anxious will derail your train of success. You need to learn to focus on your goals in a positive manner. Worrying about money, relationships, and other problems will attract negativity into your existence. Remember like attracts like. That is the Law of Attraction. If all you do is focus on your problems and what you don’t have, you are attracting those very things you don’t want into your life.

 Arrrgghh!

Meditation is the key

A proven method to calm yourself and focus what you do want, is through meditation. Meditation will allow you to calm your fears. You will be able to laser down to what you really desire.  You will be energized. You will be renewed. You will be able to stop the noise of negativity in your life. You will attract only that which is positive. You will harness positive energy to be used as a force in you life.

Certainly easier said than done. You need to start your meditations. A step by step system is needed. You do need to practice. You need to have passion, and then take action.
