The Day Starbucks Ran Out of Coffee…

True story:

I like Starbucks. I like to drink coffee. Not the double latte, triple shot espresso with caramel and whipped cream. Just straight coffee with half and half.

Yesterday, I walked into Starbucks, and stepped right up to the counter. There was no line. I handed the guy behind the counter my traveling coffee cup.

“House coffee” I said.

“No coffee” he replied. I was shocked. I stumbled. I couldn’t believe it.

“Just wait a few moments, sir, and I’ll brew some more” he quickly added.

He was right, it was just a couple of minutes and the brew was finished. I reached in my pocket.

“No charge” he said. “The coffee is on me”.

“Thanks”, I smiled. “I really appreciate that”.

I started to tell him, “you know, I wrote an ebook, exactly about what you just did called “The Law of Reciprocity: When You Give you Get”.

But I didn’t. I just waved and walked out.

Here’s the point. That free cup of coffee just cemented my relationships with Starbucks. I will definitely go back, again and again. It’s all about The Reciprocity.
